The Workshop on Language Models, the Information Environment, and Society (LIES) brings together researchers from NLP, machine learning, and the social sciences to examine how large language models are reshaping the information environments that underpin society. Topics include political bias and civic discourse, misinformation and fact-checking, AI agents and content moderation, epistemic autonomy, and governance.
